* Members of CALS, MSLS, NHLSA, NYSAPLS, RISPLS and VSLS can attend for the MALSCE Member rate.

This seminar is for land surveyors who are using, or want to use, GNSS (GPS) positioning in their practice but aren't completely comfortable with statistics in general, much less the statistical reports produced by the GNSS processing software. This full-day seminar will cover the conceptual background of probability and statistics, GNSS error budget, and a statistical analysis of actual RTK/RTN observations collected at more than 40 markers throughout Connecticut. We'll present the most important formulas so that the participants can implement them in a spreadsheet, but the presentation is decidedly not mathematical, focusing strongly on examples that are both conceptual and from real surveys. We'll include how to check inversed distances with an EDM (Electronic Distance Measurement) instrument.

What You Will Learn:
•    Concepts of probability and statistics
•    Descriptive statistics
•    independence of GNSS observations
•    confidence intervals
•    statistical tests as used as quality checks
•    OPUS, and some adjustment package reports included.
