Richard Vannozzi receives the 2012 Earle J. Fennel Award The MALSCE Board of Directors congratulates MALSCE member and NSPS Governor Rich Vannozzi for receiving the prestigious Earle J. Fennel Award from the American Congress on Surveying & Mapping. Established in honor of Earle J. Fennell, ACSM President 1966-1967 and ACSM Executive Director 1968-1971, this award is presented to an ACSM member in recognition of distinguished educational contributions to ACSM and the surveying and mapping profession. In competing for this national honor, Rich had some stiff competition but his professional record, long service to MALSCE, ACSM, and NSPS, coupled with his excellent teaching record ensured his receipt of this award. Rich was presented the award at the 2012 ACSM Survey Summit this past July.
MALSCE in the News: Opposition to H. 254, An Act preserving public trust rights in land affected by ocean erosion

In May, MALSCE expressed opposition to H. 254, An Act preserving public trust rights in land affected by ocean erosion.  This controversial bill would have dramatically affect property rights for some of the Martha's Vineyard barrier beaches.  The bill did not pass as Massachusetts legislature wrapped up its formal session on August 31, 2012. Meanwhile, MALSCE's view did receive news coverage on Martha's Vineyard.
