The Massachusetts Department of Transportation's (MassDOT) Highway Division uses Qualifications Based Selection for the procurement of firms for all Architectural and Engineering Firms (A&E), including contracts for land surveying services. For MassDOT to properly evaluate the organizational structure, experience and capabilities of each firm, interested firms must prequalify for this work on a biannual basis.
MassDOT has established a grace period ending on May 1, 2011 for firms to prequalify in the Surveyor Services categories. After May 1, only firms prequalified in category S3, which requires a full-time Registered Professional Land Surveyor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, can prepare State Highway Layout/Easement documents.
You will learn what you need to do to complete the MassDOT Prequalification Form. You will gain a better understanding about the Overhead Audit required to prequalify, and what your firm needs to do internally. The course will also familiarize you with some of the risk management your firm needs do to prepare for doing MassDOT work.
