MALSCE's Dues Waiver Program for FY2013

About MALSCE's Dues Waiver Program

In support of our members, in April 2009 the MALSCE Board of Directors voted to create a Dues Waiver Program for current Registered and Associate Members for FY2010 who had paid membership dues in FY2009. This program is being extended for FY2013, which started on July 1, 2012.

Under this program, MALSCE will waive FY2013 Annual Dues for any Registered or Associate Member who was a member the prior year and who is currently unemployed or underemployed*, provided that he/she provides documentation OR a letter to the MALSCE Board to show this current status, along with current contact information, including email, and a signed Affidavit on the Dues Waiver Form (see link above).  Participating Members will have access to all MALSCE member benefits, including the ability to attend MALSCE seminars and the Convention at the Member Rate.  In addition, scholarships are available for some MALSCE seminars for unemployed or underemployed members.

Acceptable Documentation for the Dues Waiver Program includes:
  • Copy of an email or mailed notice from the Massachusetts Department of Workforce Development showing receipt of a valid unemployment insurance payment during July or August 2012 (blackout any social security # or private information) or a similar document OR
  • A letter from the member to the MALSCE Board of Directors, mailed or emailed to The Engineering Center, asking for a Dues Waiver. The member should also pledge to notify MALSCE once he/she has started a new position and should then pay dues for the current dues year.
  • *Underemployed:   If you are working, but working less than 30 hours a week in the land surveying or engineering fields, the MALSCE Board views this as underemployment. You are eligible for the Dues Waiver Program. Please include that information in your letter.
And
  • Your completion and return of the form (see link above) December 31, 2012 including your signature on the Member Affidavit.
When you find employment before June 30, 2013, the MALSCE Board requests that you notify us of the change in your employment status, update your contact information and consider a voluntary payment of your FY2013 dues.
