Perspectives on the Future of the Surveying Profession
A. Richard Vannozzi,  Assistant Professor of Civil Technology / Surveying & Mapping,  Thompson School of Applied Science University of New Hampshire
Mr. Vannozzi is a graduate of the University of Maine where he earned a BS in Forestry with High Honors with concentrations in both Forest Management and Surveying in 1984 and an MS in Forestry (with a surveying emphasis) in 2006.   He is also a doctoral candidate in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment (NRE) at the University of Connecticut. His research is focused on GIS Applications and Education for Land Surveyors.  He is registered as a Professional Land Surveyor in Massachusetts.  He is a Past-President of MALSCE and represents MALSCE on the National Society of Professional Surveyors Board of Governors. He was named MALSCE’s Surveyor of the Year in 1998.  He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the New England Section of ACSM.
Before reorienting his career to focus on surveying education in  2003,  Mr. Vannozzi worked in private practice for 19 years specializing in ancient boundary retracement, boundary dispute resolution and title, boundary and zoning litigation.  From  2002 through  2009,  Mr. Vannozzi taught courses in surveying measurement, legal aspects of land surveying, CAD, adjustment computations and surveying technology at the Wentworth Institute of Technology  (2002-2007) and the University of Connecticut  (2007 - 2009)
