The MALSCE Education Trust offers student scholarships every year for Massachusetts residents.
The MALSCE Education Trust was founded to enhance the profession of land surveying and civil engineering in Massachusetts by providing scholarship and education grants for the students of land surveying and civil engineering who are Massachusetts residents. The Trust is currently accepting applications for three scholarships, detailed below.
Survey Certificate Program Scholarship

Completed applications are due November 30, 2023. The MALSCE Education Trust will select applicants to receive $500 scholarships each, to be chosen by December 29, 2023. The MALSCE Education Trust Chair will contact the winning applicant.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. An Applicant must:
a. Be accepted in a Survey Certificate Program in an accredited school, either online or in person classes
b. Be a Massachusetts resident;
c. Have completed 3 credit hours in the Certificate Program;
d. Complete and sign the application and submit it with a letter of recommendation by a qualified sponsor to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair, and;
e. Send, or have the school send an official transcript of all available grades to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair.
NOTE: ALL INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 30, 2023.
2. A Sponsor(s) must:
a. Be a department head, dean, professor, or teacher who has personal knowledge of the applicant. An applicant’s employer may also be a sponsor. Friends and relatives of the applicant may not be sponsors. The Trustees will not accept a letter of recommendation from a sponsor other than the types listed above.
b. Forward the completed application along with his/her letter of recommendation to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair no later than November 30, 2023.
Memorial Scholarship
(for Bachelors or Associates Degree Students)

Completed applications are due November 30, 2023. The MALSCE Education Trust may select one or more applicants to receive scholarships per year and currently plans to award one or two scholarships in 2023. The Trustees will determine the number of scholarships and the amounts by December 29, 2023. Typically 2-3 scholarships are awarded each year with varying denominations of $500, $1000 or $2000 each. The MALSCE Education Trust Chair will contact winning applicants.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. An Applicant must:
a. Presently be enrolled full-time (days) in either online classes or in person, in an accredited College, University, Junior College, Technical Institute, or Community College and majoring in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering;
b. Be a Massachusetts resident (based upon parents’ full time residence, if still a dependent); however, he/she may attend an out-of-state school;
c. Complete and sign the application and give it to a qualified Sponsor, who will forward it along with his/her letter of recommendation to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair, and;
d. Send, or have the school where he/she is enrolled send, an official transcript of all grades (including the latest Spring 2022 term) to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair. Transfer students must also forward transcripts from previous schools.
NOTE: ALL INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 30, 2023.
2. A Sponsor(s) must:
a. Be a department head, dean, professor, or teacher who has personal knowledge of the applicant. An applicant’s employer may also be a sponsor, if that the employer is a MALSCE member in good standing. Friends and relatives of the applicant may not be sponsors. The Trustees will not accept a letter of recommendation from a sponsor other than the types listed above.
b. Forward the completed application along with his/her letter of recommendation to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair no later than November 30, 2023.
2024 UMaine Scholarship

The MALSCE Education Trust will award a scholarship to a Massachusetts resident who is an incoming freshman (or transfer student) enrolled in the University of Maine Surveying Engineering Technology program (SET/SVT) which will consist of a minimum of $1,000/semester throughout their under-graduate level education, up to a maximum of $2,000/year (maximum of two semesters/year for a maximum of $8,000 or maximum $10,000 for 5-year, SET-BS and MBA option).
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. An applicant must:
a. Be a Massachusetts resident (based upon parents’ full time residence, if still a dependent);
b. Be a freshman (or transfer student) enrolled in the UMAINE Surveying Engineering Technology Program (SET/SVT)
c. Complete and sign the application and give it to your qualified Sponsor, who will forward it along with his/her letter of recommendation to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair. Also include an official transcript of all grades from previous schools (high school for incoming freshman and college for transfer student). Transcripts may be sent in a separate mailing directly from the school.
2. In order to continue to receive the MALSCE UMaine Scholarship, the Recipient must:
a. Remain in the SVT program with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
b. Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for each semester and cumulative.
c. Send an official transcript from UMAINE at the end of each semester to the MALSCE Education Trust Chair showing classes taken and grades received together with a cover letter summarizing their academic experience for the semester. Payment by the Trust will be made at the end of each semester once the Trustees have reviewed the submitted documentation.

Friends and relatives of the applicant may not be sponsors. The Trustees will not accept a letter of recommendation from a sponsor other than the types listed above.
